Of reconstructing a dark and complex past
With promises and commencements to create
A wonderful historical utopia.
Preserving the parts we hold dear
And erasing the history
Controversial to our souls.
By destroying the essential bonds and events most true
Creating an image so
Fake
Lifeless
Shallow.
Committing a sense
Of deepening regrets in which we only
Put forth our historicidal feelings to
Follow a sickening heroic narrative.

Laying to rest the
Natives at Wounded Knee
Enslaving the Africans by
Denying them basic human rights.
Imperialistic drives that extended throughout
Mexico
The Pacific
China.
Captains of Industry
And Robberbarons of greed
Gilding the poor and downtrodden
From our ancestral countries of old.
The ever rising boom of the Roaring Twenties
Towards the return of a gilded Normalcy
Closing the once great Golden Doors
And barring foreigners from our
Glorious, beautiful country.
Fighting a Fascist force
That destroys all undesirables
While our anti-Semitism prevents
Those being killed from shelter
Into a great country of supposed freedom
The incineration of a foreign population
To impress the Red Soviets.
The beginning of ideals which
Reflect the witch hunts of
Colonial Salem’s past.
The Cold War growing hot
As the world comes close
To a total nuclear holocaust.
The controversy and rebellion
Of the Sixties.
Hippies
Black Panthers
Race Riots
Bipartisan politics
Vietnam
And the bombing of Cambodia.

All to be wiped away from existence in hopes to bring
The false hope of a historicidal country
In which the past is erased and the future
Is manipulated into the hands of mass entertainment
